In the book of Numbers, chapter 21, the Israelite spoke against God and Moses and they were punished under the law. God sent fiery serpents which bit them and they were dying. Then the people realize their wrong and came unto Moses, asking him to pray to God to take away the fiery serpent.
And God said to Moses: Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live. And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived (Numbers:21:8-
My point here is; the people do not have to do anything but only look at the serpent. When they look, they see (remember seeing is believing). They needed no faith or fasting or prayers or laying of hands or any spiritual rights. They do not have to deserve, merit or worth it; all they needed to do is look. That was ABSOLUTE Grace at work.
Moses made a serpent of brass and mounted it upon a pole. Today, in the New Testament, the serpent of brass on the pole is replaced by the body of Christ on the cross. All we need to do to be saved is believe and live in the consciousness of what the death of Christ on the cross has brought for us, which are: redemption, forgiveness from all sins (past, present and future), righteousness, mercy, life, divine health, freedom, joy, blessing, favour, honour, dignity, satisfaction, beauty, riches & wealth. We don’t have to deserve, merit or worth it. This is ABSOLUTE Grace at work.
I am sharing with you the good news of Absolute Grace: that Jesus died so that you shall not die; that Jesus was captured and held bond so that you shall be set lose and be made free from all bondage; that Jesus was beaten, bruised, wounded and became ill so that you shall be healed of all sicknesses, diseases and made whole; that Jesus was judged by the law and sentenced to death so that you shall be acquainted of your sins or crime and be free, even of the law; that Jesus was stripped of everything and made poor so that you shall be blessed in all things and made rich.
The good news is that you are no longer under the law but under grace. The law (commandments) that God gave to Moses brought sin and thereby death, while grace (by the death of Jesus) gives life. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ (John:1:17).
What is this grace and truth? For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John:3:16). All you need to do is believe in Jesus and stand under the consciousness of God’s grace. By doing so: you are made righteous of all sin; that you shall not perish of your diseases; that you shall not continue in lack and poverty; that your sorrows, grief & fears are restored with joy, peace, boldness and gladness. No matter what your sins; you are now the righteousness of God through the blood of Jesus.
The law (Old Testament) has countless list of things you have to do to be qualify or made righteous; Grace is saying all you need to do is believe that Jesus has died for you and all your sins (past, present and future) has been washed away by His blood. The law is asking for the blood of ram or bullock each time you sin. Grace is that the blood of Jesus has been shed for all your sins, once and for all, forever.
Read patiently as i will like to ask you one more question. Is it true that you would be encouraged to sin more if you are conscious that all your sins, even your future sins are forgiven? Please read that question again and meditate over it. Permit me to depict this question with an illustration. That you have a husband (or spouse) who love you and you love him. But by weakness of your flesh you fornicated and committed adultery and were caught by him. But instead of him divorcing you, he said to you: i have forgiven you because my love for you is unconditional and even if you commit the same sin again, i will still forgive you and love you.
My question still remain the same: would you be encouraged to sin or rather fornicate the more, now that you are in the consciousness, that he loves you so much, that even if you do it again he would forgive you?
My own answer is NO. I know you are probably short of words. Even if you find it difficult to believe my answer; you are also finding it difficult to fault it. The truth is; the consciousness of forgiveness does not encourage you to sin more. As a matter of fact, it makes you to want to be a better person.
Quit trying hard to be righteous for all our righteousness are as filthy rags before the Lord (Isaiah:64:6). Come under the umbrella of God's Grace and submit yourself totally to Him. For the bible says: He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail (1Samuel:2:9). Again: for by strength shall no man prevail.
Quit relying on your strength and abilities. Let God fight your battle for you by positioning yourself under the consciousness of His grace. He did it for King Hezekiah (2Kings:18), He can do it for you.
Brethren, the choice is yours. Do you choose to struggle under the law -
